“Blessed are the merciful, because they will be shown mercy.” (Matt 5:7) Jesus said the merciful have an edge. In our study of Romans 12:3-8 we have unwrapped the treasures given by God to each believer according to His specific plan for each and every life. The Greek word used is el-eh-eh’-o – to have or show compassion; to have pity on, compassionate of a divine nature; in other words, to exhibit and extend uncommon or supernatural compassion to another. Paul said if God’s grace sends the gift of mercy, the recipient should extend compassion with eager and cheerful concern. This morning we will unwrap the gift of mercy, it’s characteristics, as well as it’s misunderstandings.
