Ryan Napier - Freedom Hill Church
This morning we welcome Ryan & Angela Napier. They are planting a new church in San Antonio, Freedom Hill. CRBC is their sponsoring church, a joint effort with the SBTC. Why is church planting so crucially important?
1. The Great Commission (Matt.28: 18-20)
We’re not just called to ‘make disciples’ but to ‘baptize’. In Acts, baptism means incorporation into a worshipping community with accountability. Paul’s whole strategy was to plant churches. Denominational studies confirm that the average new church gains 60-80% of its new members from people who are not attending any worshipping body.
It’s a mistake to think that we must choose between church planting and church renewal. As strange as it seems, planting new churches is one of the best ways to revitalize older churches in the vicinity. Church planting also helps its parent church when the excitement and success “washes back”. New church planting is the only way to be sure we are going to increase the number of believers in a city and one of the best ways to renew the body of Christ.
