Our History

Clay Road Baptist Church (CRBC) began as a church plant by J. M. McDonnel meeting for the first time on June 30, 1955. Less than two years later, CRBC had constructed its first building and was constituted into a local Baptist church with affiliations to the Union Baptist Association, Baptist General Convention of Texas, and the Southern Baptist Convention.

As Spring Branch grew in population, CRBC experienced growth throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s expanding its facilities and its ministries to the community including the founding of Clay Road Baptist School.

Weathering the "transitional neighborhood" movement of the 1980’s, CRBC continued through the 1990’s revitalizing as a body. Today, CRBC is once again experiencing healthy, vibrant growth. Young families are reclaiming the area around CRBC and they are our fastest growing group. We are affiliated with South Texas Baptist Association, Southern Baptist of Texas Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. Our community involvement includes partnering with Spring Branch ISD, Cy-Fair ISD, Star of Hope Mission, Angel Food ministries, Gracewood Women's Center and more.
